Dal 1960 al 1970 è il chitarrista solista e cantante dei Beatles. Dopo lo scioglimento del gruppo, intrarprende la carriera solista sia come musicista sia come produttore musicale e cinematografico. 

Famoso per essere un profondo estimatore della cultura indiana, Harrison organizza nell'agosto del 1971, insieme al musicista Ravi Shankar, il primo concerto benefico nella storia della musica "The Concert for Bangladesh". L'occasione avrebbe reso possibile una reunion dei Beatles, ma sia John Lennon sia Paul McCartney declinano l'invito a partecipare.

Famous for being a deep admirer of Indian culture, Harrison, together with musician Ravi Shankar, organized the first-ever benefit concert in the history of music, "The Concert for Bangladesh," in August 1971. The occasion had the potential to bring about a Beatles reunion, but both John Lennon and Paul McCartney declined the invitation to participate.
