From Britain... With Beat
Relieve the wild days of Beatlemania again!
All material previously unreleased!
Side One
In the summer of 1964, prior to The Beatles visit to Dallas, these interviews were aired on KLIF (AM). The Beatles had just finished a whirl- wind tour of Australia and New Zealand, where hundreds of thousands of fans and onlookers greeted them, so it made sense to air these glimpses into The Beatles fabulously successful tour. Besides, in those days of Beatlemania, anything they said was golden in content. This side begins with a blow by blow description of the huge crowd and mass hysteria on hand to greet The Beatles at the Southern Cross Hotel in Melbourne (6/15/64). From there we are treated to some priceless noments of conversation with each Beatle as they depart for London at Mascot Airport in Sydney (7/1/64). Finally, after the Beatles depart we hear some unintentionally hilarious moments with bereaved fans skipping school to see their heroes off. Interspersed through all the pandemonium and excitement are some rare KLIF Beatle radio promos (Total Time: 22 minutes)
Side Two
These interviews were conducted on September 17, 1964, near the close of The Beatles first American tour. GEORGE describes how The Beatles develop their songs through John and Pauls technique of writing anc arranging also how American radio compares with British. RINGO talks about the wild New Orleans concert, where fans broke thru the barricades and tried to storm the stage and the role of Capitol Records and American radio in promoting The Beatles. PAUL discusses the New Orleans
concert and his annoyance at politicians that use The Beatles for their Own ends. Closing out side two is a February 1965 John Lennon nterview. John talks in detail about Julian's upbringing and attempts ta keep him out of the limelight. John also discusses Beatle songs, and a quote attributed to him from Maureen Cleave that was taken out of context (perhaps a foreshadow of what would happen a year later during the 1966 U.S. tour).
