JOHN LENNON'S SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

Serie di 4 fotografie (9 x 6,5 cm), scattate a inizio Anni 50 dall'insegnate di John Lennnon, Mr Beer

number 27 out of a limited edition of 1.000

On a warm summer's day in the early fifties a group of schoolboys set off from Dovedale Road Primary School, Liverpool for a short trip to Port St. Mary in the Isle of Man.

One of them was destined to be one of the most prodigious musical talents produced by post-war Britain.

Pictured at the front of the pack is John Lennon displaying some of the leadership qualities which took The Beatles to the top of their tree. 'Where are we going to chaps?' John would ask the other three Beatles.

'To the toppermost of the poppermost Johnny!', they would exclaim. Next to John on the photo of the boys in the sea is Jimmy Tarbuck, the comedian who achieved national fame in the sixties.

These four photos which were taken by John's school teacher, Mr. Beer, have languished in a dark cupboard in the north of England until recently. They offer a glimpse into the lighter moments of a childhood that wasn't without its difficulties.
