Quarto album del gruppo musicale britannico The Beatles, prodotto da George Martin.

La lavorazione dell'album, registrato nelle pause fra le lunghe tournée intraprese dalla band nel 1964, comincia appena un mese dopo la pubblicazione del precedente album "A Hard Day's Night".

A differenza di quest'ultimo, l'album include numerose cover a compensare la mancanza di materiale originale sufficiente a riempire un nuovo LP.
