Secondo album del gruppo musicale britannico, prodotto da George Martin.

Negli U.S.A. viene pubblicato con il titolo "The Beatles' Second Album" con diversa copertina e sequenza di brani modificata dalla Capitol Records.

É il primo album discografico nel Regno Unito a raggiungere il milione di copie vendute, record ottenuto nel 1965.

Questa copia presenta un errore di stampa sul retro di copertina. Il titolo "You Really GOTTA Hold On Me" non è corretto ("You Really GOT A Hold On Me"). L'edizione è originale del 1963 con i credits di Dominion, Belinda Publishing per la traccia "Money".
