LOS BEATLES - 78 RPM ARGENTINA

Among the rarest treasures of the Beatles’ discography is the 78 rpm “Los Beatles”, released in 1964 by Odeon Pops, the Latin American branch of the Odeon label.

At a time when the 78 rpm format was already obsolete internationally, Argentina continued to produce it for older gramophones and jukeboxes, making this record a unique testimony to South America’s technological transition.

It features two emblematic songs of early Beatlemania, Twist y Gritos (Twist and Shout) and La Vi Parada Ahí (I Saw Her Standing There), with titles translated into Spanish for the local market. The label, in green and yellow, bears the name Los Beatles and the rare wording EDICIÓN PROMOCIONAL, confirming its limited promotional purpose.

The cover, with photographic portraits of the four Beatles, includes the slogan El sonido más moderno del mundo, adding further appeal to an object that blends music, graphic design, and history.

Printed in very few copies and seldom surviving in good condition, this 78 rpm is today considered a true “chimera” among collectors.
