The Beatles Jumbo Comb
The original Beatles giant comb - genuine autographed
The Beatles’ oversized plastic comb was produced in 1964 by Lido Toys. It featured a white label along the top edge that read “Genuine Autograph.” Images and facsimile signatures of all four Beatles were also printed on the comb.
On the back of the original comb model, the words “Jumbo Comb” were molded into the plastic.
The original product was available in red, pink, light blue, white, cream/yellow, and light green.
The reproduction of the comb had fewer flexible teeth and was lighter than the original. Over the years, the comb has been further counterfeited in bright colors such as red, dark green, deep dark yellow, and dark blue.
“Lido - No. B-1” was printed on the top of the cardboard packaging.
The NEMS agreement was with Lido Toys Ltd. The date of the manufacturing license agreement was February 12, 1964. The initial term of the license was for “Comb,” with the territory listed for distribution as “World!”
On August 8, 1968, the merchandising license for Lido Toys Limited was included in the contracts provided to Apple Corps Limited by the firm Wright, Webb & Company.
