Zapple Records
Zapple Records was born as a subsidiary of Apple Records. It was run by Barry Miles, a friend of McCartney. Only two albums were released under the label, both recorded by members of the Beatles (Unfinished Music No. 2: Life with Lions by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, and Electronic Sound by George Harrison).
The first recordings for Zapple were made in January 1969 by Barry Miles, who, armed with a portable recorder, recorded poems by Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Charles Olson, and Ken Weaver. Unfortunately, the project never saw the light of day as the label was closed down in June 1969, after only six months of activity, apparently with Lennon's support.
