Beatles Portraits Buttons
Set of four Beatles buttons, each featuring one member of the band. The colour images, taken from promotional photographs dating from the early Beatlemania period, are protected by a convex plastic lens and mounted within a serrated metal frame.
Produced for the British market in 1964, these buttons represent one of the most widespread forms of wearable Beatles merchandising. Sold individually or as a complete set, they allowed young fans to show their preference for a particular member of the group or to collect the entire series.
Their simple construction and compact format contributed to their widespread popularity during the years of Beatlemania, when the Beatles' image appeared on an ever-growing variety of products aimed at the teenage market.
