Original Beatles Brooch

Examples of British Beatles merchandising produced during the height of Beatlemania.

The first pin, dating from 1964, features a large letter “B” embellished with rhinestones and populated by four miniature figures representing the Beatles playing their instruments. The letter clearly refers to the band's name and reflects one of the many creative decorative interpretations developed to meet the growing demand for Beatles-inspired merchandise.

The second pin, dating from 1963, is shaped like a stylized beetle and incorporates a black-and-white photograph of the Beatles protected by a transparent plastic lens. This type of promotional jewellery was particularly popular in the United Kingdom between 1963 and 1964, when the group's image was applied to a wide range of accessories aimed primarily at the teenage market.
