PROMOTIONAL INFLATABLE DOLLS - LUX (U.S.A.)

The 1966–67 mail-in promotion advertised: “Exciting offer—The Beatles—Lift flap, pull up.” It included a set of four 33-cm purple plastic inflatable Beatles dolls from NEMS/Origina King Features Syndicate. This collection was created as a promotional tie-in to The Beatles’ animated cartoons aired on television; it was never intended to be sold as a standalone item.  

The inflatable dolls from The Beatles cartoons could be purchased using a coupon found inside a package of Lux, Dove, or Lifebuoy soap, as well as Nestlé’s Quik. This set was licensed by NEMS Enterprises Ltd. and manufactured in Hong Kong.  

In 1966, a television commercial was produced featuring the inflatable dolls. 

There was a man in a store who said to us, "ello, see these little fellows? They're The Beatles. Inflatable Beatles. They're yours, the four of  them; send two dollars and two wrappers from Dove or Lux or Lifebuoy soap. You'll find The Beatles (pause for screams, and they get louder as the commercial continues) at your supermarket in this display.
