The Beatles Square Vinyl Hand Bag / Pencil Case

The most common case was manufactured and sold in the United States in 1964 by Standard Plastic Products, Inc. (SPP of South Plainfield, New Jersey). Ramat London (RAMAT & Company) handled the distribution of this case, but it was manufactured by Standard Plastic Products.

The pencil case/pouch was made of soft plastic or vinyl and was available in several colors: blue, bright pink, red, yellow, and gray (or beige), with a zipper closure at the top.

The pencil case featured a black-and-white photo of the band, the words “The Beatles” printed on the side, and measured approximately 3½“ x 8”.

The gray or beige versions might have “Purse” or “The Beatles Purse” printed on them. They were sold in cellophane-sealed packages, along with a “Beatles Pencil Case” label that included photos of the Beatles.

The agreement with NEMS had been signed with Ramat and Company, Ltd., and the production license date was November 21, 1963.
