Beatles "Kiss'n Lips" Cup

Produced in limited quantities by the Burrite Company (Burroughs Manufacturing Corporation), located at 3550 Tyburn, Los Angeles, California, these glasses were officially licensed by NEMS.

The Burroughs Manufacturing Corporation was founded in 1949, with Clarence Burroughs as its owner. Items produced by the company might bear the following printed identification on their surface:

“THE BURROUGHS CO. / LOS. ANGELES CALIF. U.S. A. / BURRITE!”

The thermoplastic cups measured 6½" in height and had a paper insert between the inner and outer layers of clear plastic. The inserts featured color images of the group taken from their 1964 appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

The tumblers were available with the top rim in four colors: red, green, yellow, and white (white was the most common color). Printed at the top of the insert was a graphic of pink lips giving a kiss. For this reason—and quite obviously—the item was nicknamed the “Kissin’ Lips Tumbler!”

Replicas of these tumblers were produced, but they featured a much narrower rim than the originals (the authentic tumbler had a white plastic rim ⅝" high). Additionally, the top of the plastic rim was knurled on some of the counterfeit copies.
