Yellow Submarine Ringo Starr coat hanger

A coat hanger made of rigid cardboard (1.5 mm thick) featuring Ringo Starr in the graphic style of the animated film Yellow Submarine (1968).
It is part of a series of four coat hangers, each dedicated to one of the Beatles (John, Paul, George, and Ringo), produced and sold individually.

The design, which is highly stylized and instantly recognizable, draws on the visual elements created by Heinz Edelmann, the German art director who oversaw the film’s entire visual universe.
Each hanger featured a small amber-colored or transparent plastic hook, secured with a metal screw.

The Yellow Submarine Hangers series was designed for the American market as a promotional and decorative item for children’s bedrooms: they were sold in record stores, stationery shops, and department stores for $0.98 each.
