The Beatles Book Covers

The official book covers were available in packs of seven and were produced in 1964 by Book Covers Incorporated.

The book cover sizes are 25.4 cm × 33 cm and was sold with the following description:
‘7 for 98¢... Washable... Durable... Plastic-coated... Fits all textbooks!’

The newspaper advert for the Beatles’ book covers read:
“Take The Beatles Back To School (Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.)”

The design featured a large ‘B’ and the words ‘Yeah Yeah Yeah’ in a college-style typeface, along with four photos of the Beatles positioned at each end, the images were also visible on the inner flap once folded.

One of the covers featured a photo across the top, in banner style, with a gold border and black-and-white photos printed down the sides.

A paper insert, sealed in plastic at the top of the book cover, featured a photograph of the Beatles in retro swimming trunks.

There was also a personalisation box, allowing the user to add their name beneath the words ‘Property of’.

Book Covers Inc. included its merchandising licence in the contracts provided to Apple Corps Limited on 8 August 1968, via the firm Wright, Webb & Company.
